Rental Content Details
- One GARMIN inReach Mini 2 unit
- One carabiner
- One Type-C charging cable
Usage Precautions
- To get the best satellite signal, please hang the inReach on your backpack or upper body. The inReach needs an open, unobstructed sky to maintain smooth signal transmission for messages, tracking, or SOS functions. In caves, dense forests, or narrow valleys, signal reception may be poor, and multiple attempts may be needed to send messages successfully. If in a location with poor signal, the device will continuously try to send the signal until it succeeds, which will also increase battery consumption.
- Your emergency contact must clearly understand your hiking itinerary. When the SOS function is activated, contact will be maintained with the injured party through the emergency contact until rescue arrives, so the emergency contact must be familiar with the itinerary to ensure the most efficient rescue.
- Please return the device on time to avoid affecting the rights of the next user.
- Battery usage reminder: The inReach Mini2 is preset to automatically send its location every 10 minutes when powered on. In environments with poor reception, the device will continuously send signals until successful, which can consume more power. If used continuously in such environments, the official estimate for battery life is up to 4 days, so please be sure to carry a power bank with sufficient charge. (To save power, it's also recommended to set the device to "stop tracking" when resting at a fixed point, but don't forget to press "start tracking" when you set off again!)
- Upon receiving the device, please test all functions to ensure they work normally.
Damage and Loss Charging Method
- Device lost or irreparably damaged: 12,000 NTD
- Charging cable, carabiner damaged or lost: 300 NTD
- If the device is damaged but repairable, the deposit will be refunded after deducting the actual repair costs once the repair is completed.
Feature Introduction
Recommended useful features of GARMIN inReach Mini 2:
1. Messaging 2. Weather 3. Track Tracking 4. SOS
(It is recommended to use the existing mobile app functions: navigation, recording)
Messaging
- Send SMS
When encountering special situations where preset messages cannot describe the situation, you can type your own message content. However, the inReach mini 2's buttons are not easy to operate. It is recommended to download the GARMIN Messenger app on your phone beforehand, connect it to inReach via Bluetooth, and then type and send messages directly in the app.
- Receiving and Sending Messages by Emergency Contact
It is recommended to use a mobile phone or email as the primary contact method.
The satellite messages received by the emergency contact include coordinates, message content, and a location link. To send a message to the user, you must click on that link to reply to the message. (Please do not reply directly to email or SMS, as the user will not receive the message!)
Weather
- You can select the forecast location (current location & other desired locations).
- Basic forecasts are for 2-4 days.
Track Tracking
- After clicking "Start Tracking," inReach will begin sending its location periodically. We will provide a fixed, exclusive URL to the emergency contact, which can be used to view the user's real-time trajectory at any time. The sending frequency is set to once every 10 minutes by default.
- The tracking function is automatically enabled by default, meaning inReach will automatically start tracking its location after power-on. To stop, simply click "Stop Tracking."
SOS
- In an emergency, the user can open the SOS cover and press the button. The message will be transmitted via the International Emergency Response Coordination Center (abroad) to relevant Taiwanese rescue units and the emergency contact, and contact will be maintained with the injured party via messages.
