Rental Content Details
- GARMIN inReach Mini 2 (1 unit)
- Carabiner (1 piece)
- Type-C charging cable (1 piece)
Usage Precautions
- For optimal satellite signal, please wear the inReach on your backpack or upper body. The inReach needs a clear, unobstructed view of the sky to maintain continuous signal for sending messages, tracking location, or using SOS functions. Therefore, in caves, dense forests, or narrow valleys, signal may be poor, and multiple attempts may be required to successfully send messages. If located in a poor signal area, the device will continuously attempt to send the signal until successful, which will also increase battery consumption.
- Your emergency contact must be clear about your hiking itinerary. Because when the SOS function is activated, contact will be made with the injured person through the emergency contact until rescue arrives, so the emergency contact must be clear about the itinerary to achieve the most efficient rescue.
- Please be sure to return the device on time to avoid affecting the rights of the next user.
- Battery usage reminder: The inReach Mini 2 is set by default to send its location every 10 minutes when powered on. In environments with poor reception, the device will continuously send signals until successful, which will consume more battery power. If continuously used in such environments, the official estimate for battery life is up to 4 days, so please be sure to bring a power bank with sufficient charge. (To save power, it is also recommended to set the device to "stop tracking" when resting at a fixed point, but don't forget to press "start tracking" when you set off again!)
- Upon receiving the device, please be sure to test all functions to ensure they are working properly.
Damage and Loss Charges
- Device lost or irreparably damaged: NT$3,600
- Device damaged but repairable: Charged according to the manufacturer's repair quote, with any difference refunded or paid.
- Charging cable, carabiner damaged or lost: NT$300
Rental Cancellation Policy
- If cancellation is notified 3 days before the pick-up date, the rental fee and logistics fee will be fully refunded.
(The above days calculation does not include holidays)
Function Introduction
Recommended useful functions of GARMIN inReach Mini 2:
1. Messaging 2. Weather 3. Tracking 4. SOS
(It is recommended to use the functions of your existing mobile app: navigation, recording)
Messaging
- Send text messages
When encountering special circumstances where preset messages cannot describe the situation, you can type your own message content. However, the inReach Mini 2's buttons are not easy to operate. It is recommended to download the GARMIN Messenger app on your phone in advance, connect it via Bluetooth to the inReach, and then type and send messages directly from the app.
- Message sending and receiving for emergency contacts
It is recommended to use mobile phone or email as the primary contact method.
The satellite message received by the emergency contact includes coordinates, message content, and a location link. To send a message to the user, the emergency contact must click on the link to reply to the message. (Please do not reply directly to email or text messages, as the other party will not receive the message!)
Weather
- You can choose the forecast location (current location & other locations you wish to query).
- Basic forecast for 2-4 days
Tracking
- After clicking "Start Tracking," the inReach will start sending its location at regular intervals. We will provide a fixed, dedicated URL to the emergency contact, which can be used to view the user's real-time trajectory at any time. The sending frequency is set to once every 10 minutes by default.
- The tracking function is set to automatically start by default, meaning the inReach will automatically start tracking its location after being powered on. To stop, simply click "Stop Tracking."
SOS
- In an emergency, the user can open the SOS cover and press the button. The message will be sent through the International Emergency Response Coordination Center (abroad), which will notify relevant Taiwanese rescue units and the emergency contact, and then communicate with the injured person via messages.
