FAQ
Is this outlet Garmin inReach Mini 2 brand new?
No. It is a used outlet unit. Mabu Valley completes a basic inspection before shipping to confirm the device works normally. Because it has been used, it may show minor scratches, scuffs, dirt, paint chipping or incomplete packaging, which fall within the reasonable scope of a used item.
How does the warranty on the outlet unit work?
Mabu Valley provides a 6-month warranty counted from the day after you receive the item. It covers non-human-induced faults under normal use. Cosmetic wear, human-induced damage, drops, moisture, water ingress, unauthorized disassembly, modification or improper use are not covered.
Can I return the outlet unit if it has cosmetic marks?
Cosmetic marks fall within the reasonable scope of a used item, so returns or exchanges are not accepted for cosmetic flaws. Outlet units are limited and sold while supplies last; please confirm you accept the condition described before ordering, or buy a new unit if you have higher standards.
Do I still pay a monthly fee after buying the outlet Mini 2?
Yes. Satellite messaging and SOS need an active Garmin satellite service plan. Garmin Taiwan's personal plans come in four tiers (basic, assurance, standard and premium), each with a one-time activation fee of TWD 1,310; monthly fees are as announced on Garmin Taiwan's official website.
How long does the Mini 2 battery last?
Garmin states up to 14 days with 10-minute tracking, standard activity logging and a completely clear sky; up to 4 days under partial tree cover (default); and up to 30 days with 30-minute tracking, 10 days under tree cover. It charges over USB-C. As this is a used unit, real battery condition may differ from a new one.
How does the Mini 2 differ from the Mini 3?
The Mini 2 weighs about 100 g with a 0.9 in, 176 x 176 pixel display and up to 14 days in 10-minute tracking. The Mini 3 weighs 122.2 g with a 1.9 in color touchscreen and up to 350 hours in 10-minute tracking mode. Both use the Iridium satellite network and a Garmin satellite service plan.
What happens after I press SOS?
SOS goes to Garmin Response, Garmin's international emergency response coordination center, which is staffed around the clock and alerts local rescue services. Before you set out, set up your emergency contacts and leave your itinerary with someone staying behind.
If I only hike occasionally, should I buy the outlet unit or rent?
If you hike only a few times a year, renting first makes sense. Mabu Valley offers inReach rentals (a Mabu Valley service, not a Garmin service); see the rental page. If you hike often or go on long trips, consider owning one.
