Mabugu Outdoor Gear Garmin inReach Operation Tutorial - Simplified Version

This operational guide is for device users. We will teach you how to quickly master the most basic and core functions of Garmin inReach in the simplest steps. With just a few steps, you can ensure you stay connected during outdoor activities and enhance your safety.

 

The device comes with the following documents:

 

1. Download the APP

  • Search for and download GARMIN Messenger from your phone's app store.

2. Account Login - Very Important - Please complete the login process with an internet connection.

  • Open GARMIN Messenger, click Login, and use the Garmin account provided in the enclosed documents to log in.

3. SMS Verification

  • Enter your mobile number and complete the SMS verification process, and agree to relevant authorizations to ensure messages are sent correctly.
  • Before phone verification, please ensure that the telecom operator's function to reject enterprise SMS messages is not enabled.

      Note: Phone SMS verification may experience system delays. Please wait patiently or try again after a few minutes. Do not operate frequently.

      4. Connect and Pair

      • Turn on Bluetooth on your phone and pair it with your Garmin inReach.
      • Device: Menu > Settings > Phone > Pair Phone
      • Phone: Devices > Add Device > Connect > Enter PIN

          5. Set Tracking

          • Ensure that the device's tracking function is enabled for regular location data updates.
          • Operation 1 Device: Menu > Settings > Tracking > Enable Auto Tracking or Manually Enable Tracking
          • Operation 2 Phone: Devices > Start Tracking

              Reminder:

              1. During your trip, please check if the location tracking symbol is displayed to ensure your family and standby personnel can monitor your location in real-time.
              2. If the day's trip has ended, you can send a check-in message first, then "turn off the device" to save power.
              3. The inReach Mini2 must transmit signals in an open sky. Placing it in a pocket or backpack will result in poor signal.

                6. Share Tracking URL

                • Provide the tracking URL in the enclosed documents to your family and standby personnel so that those who care about you can instantly check your location and activity.
                • Tracking URL example: https://share.garmin.com/mabu******* 
                • Default Password: 8399 (meaning "climbing for a long time" in Chinese)

                    7. Basic Operation

                    The core function of Garmin inReach is to send messages via satellite and stay connected when there is no mobile signal. When used with Garmin Messenger, its functions are similar to general communication software when there is an internet connection, and it can send important messages via satellite when there is no internet connection.
                    Note: Except for preset messages, sending or receiving messages via satellite will incur additional charges.

                     

                        Preset Messages (Check-in Messages)

                        Send three fixed messages to MapShare. You can turn off your phone's internet before your trip to test it. It's completely free.

                        Custom Two-Way Messages

                        Device users can customize messages to be sent to:  

                        1. GARMIN Messenger APP (Most Recommended)
                        2. MapShare (Sent to tracking URL)
                        3. Mobile Number
                        4. Email

                        May incur additional charges
                        Friends or standby personnel should download Garmin Messenger, register, and complete SMS verification to send messages to the device in the mountains. Please do not send private information.

                         

                        Note: Using satellite signals to send or receive text messages: 1 free message per day, $20/message thereafter.

                        SOS Emergency Call

                        When you receive the device, we have already updated the standby personnel information based on the data provided during the device rental.
