COGHLAN'S #0905 Emergency Signal Mirror

  • In the wilderness or at sea, light is the most far-reaching distress signal. Combining precision aiming technology with a durable, floating design, the Coghlan's #0905 Emergency Signal Mirror reflects intense light that can reach up to 25 miles (approx. 40 km) in ideal conditions, serving as your most reliable "visual emergency phone" for outdoor activities.
  • 25-Mile (Approx. 40 km) Ultra-Long-Range Signaling: The flickering light produced by the highly reflective surface can be clearly spotted by aircraft, ships, or search and rescue teams dozens of kilometers away, significantly increasing your chances of rescue.
  • Precision Retro-reflective Sight-Grid: The exclusive Sight-grid aiming system allows users to precisely lock onto targets through the grid, ensuring the reflected beam is accurately projected toward searchers rather than aimlessly flashed.
  • Durable Acrylic and Floating Design: Featuring a reinforced acrylic casing, it is not only drop-resistant and impact-resistant but also capable of floating on water, ensuring you won't lose it if it accidentally drops into the water while boating or river trekking.
  • Lightweight Design: Weighing only about 28.3 grams (1 oz.), it is extremely lightweight and compact, adding virtually no burden to your first aid kit, survival bag, or life jacket pocket.
  • Intuitive and Rapid Operation: Requires no power and no assembly; it works as long as there is even a faint light source, making it the most pure and effective survival gear for extreme environments.

How to use an emergency signal mirror?

  1. Catch the Sunlight: Hold the signal mirror in one hand and face the mirror towards the sun (or a strong light source). Adjust the angle to reflect the sunlight onto your other hand or a nearby surface to confirm the mirror has caught the light.
  2. Aim Through the Hole: Bring the mirror in front of your eyes and look through the central hole at the target you wish to signal (e.g., a distant helicopter, ship, or search party).
  3. Align the Light Spot: You will see a bright spot appear on the "sight-grid." Adjust the angle of the mirror to overlap this light spot with the target (the object) seen through the sighting hole.
  4. Send the Signal: Once the light spot is aligned with the target, the reflected beam is precisely projected onto them. You can slightly sway the mirror to create a "flicker" effect, which is easier for search and rescue personnel to notice than a continuous beam.
