At the corner of the alley behind the McDonald's on Xinsheng South Road, National Taiwan University, there is a cafe with a warm yellow light. It has stood quietly with a brick wall for 27 years. A simple small sign hangs beside the door, which reads "Xueke" Room". For National Taiwan University students, it may be just an inconspicuous corner in their memories, but for Taipei rock climbers, it symbolizes a warm place of belonging— an old cafe run by fellow climbers.

Pushing open the nostalgic glass and wooden door, one of the top coaches in Taiwan's Yue world is sitting near the door . He gives me the feeling that he is very similar to Xue Kewu: he has years and cute names, but his simple style is fiery. heart. "Hey Snowyang! Sit down!" The person with a dark face, wearing copper-colored carved square glasses, and a short white beard, greeted me with a sonorous and powerful voice. It was Mr. Dai Changsheng, who everyone called him "Little Coach Beard".

"At that time, I lived in Yushan for a month and exercised every day. How great! That doesn't happen now!" "What about the food?" "Invite friends to take them with them when they go up the mountain!" The topic revolved around Yushan and The snow was turning, and I first learned about mustaches when a friend recommended snow training at the "Mustache Adventure School." He is a Hakka child who was born in Guanxi, Hsinchu. He played in the village stream since he was a child and developed his aquatic skills. When he grew up, he also devoted himself to diving. This was his first outdoor life. "Many people are surprised when they know that I also dive or go up rivers, 'Coach! So you can do this too!' But we were born in Taiwan, isn't that how we should be? There are mountains and seas at the same time!" These words , deeply imprinted in my mind, yes, isn’t that how it should be? Once upon a time, mountains and seas became a distant existence?

Mustache was originally a chef. Because of his interest in diving and his enthusiasm for rescuing people, he joined the Waimushan Fishing Port Lifesaving Team at that time, the predecessor of the Keelung Special Search and Rescue Team. Through this, he met Liu Kunyao, the core figure of Xinbanshan Search today, and became his An opportunity to engage in mountain disaster search and rescue.

His mountaineering career started unexpectedly during an accidental sightseeing trip to Hehuan Mountain. "Ah, I went there just once, and I hit the mark!" A simple sentence expressed his deepest emotion at that time, which pulled him from the sea into the forest, and even sold his diving equipment to a mountain friend.

Perhaps due to his dedicated personality, Mustache, who was inspired by Hehuan Mountain, began to climb the Baiyue Mountains with Beiyue in 1977, and soon completed the Baiyue Mountains in 1981. In those four years, he did not just follow the leader. Even after walking, I also go to classes after work, teach myself knowledge and skills about mountaineering, participate in guide training, etc., and accumulate mountaineering knowledge on myself. "I am a person who learns in actual combat." He will devote himself wholeheartedly to what he learns out of interest, so he can always hone his own sky in various fields: After following Beiyue to train in the snow of Yushan, he fell in love with Ice and snow, every winter, I immersed myself in the ice, snow and rock world of Yushan to hone myself. I learned rock climbing from Liu Naixun and the RCC Rock Climbers Club. When I had time, I went to Longdong to practice. Because of rock climbing, I learned ropes and passed the IRATA Level 1. Because He was good at climbing mountains and ropes and was familiar with water skills, so he learned river tracing from Lin Zongsheng, the founder of Four Seasons River Tracing... There were so many, and his eyes were shining when he shared these experiences.

In 1983, the Mustache Climbing Restaurant was officially opened, which was a turning point for him from catering to a full-time outdoor technical instructor. The tablecloth of this restaurant was a contour map. In that era, climbers and rock climbers gathered together and became a Everyone's favorite place. In 1989, Mustache finally organized a team, retired the restaurant, and transformed it into "Mustache Adventure School", where he began to teach full-time knowledge and skills about mountains, water, and adventure. It has been 20 years since he left. Until today.

While chatting with Mustache, I clearly saw his enthusiasm for "technology" and his love for mountains and seas: In order to allow himself to enjoy every detail of nature more freely and safely, and to explore the unknown world to his heart's content, he I devoted myself very seriously to learning every field I came into contact with, spending all my time in nature, honing each technique in practice, and turning them into handy exploration tools. Gradually, my strength was recognized by the entire mountaineering circle.

In 1994, Mustache had the opportunity to climb Mount Everest with Gao Ming and his famous team. However, mid-training, he realized that this was not the climbing style he wanted. He finally quit and devoted himself to his adventure education. . Because following the footsteps of his predecessors to climb mountains is not his purpose, taking risks is the essence of his going outdoors.

"Isn't it the way it should be if you were born in Taiwan?" Mustache has spent many years training himself in nature, making his life full of nutrients from the mountains and the sea. The hand where I met the mustache was thick and warm. My gaze went up along the muscle lines, passing over the strong chest, and was fixed in his sharp pupils. If his beard hadn't been gray, I wouldn't have felt that This is the look and body that a man of nearly 60 years old can have.

Mustache breaks the boundaries of the field, uses mountains and water to hone his skills and body, and continues to impart outdoor skills and knowledge; passing on this adventurous spirit and life attitude that comes from the land and belongs to Taiwanese people to countless people. Students and juniors are silently irrigating the soul of the mountains and seas that belong to this land.
