2026 Taipei City "Disaster Preparedness Together, Carry Safety with You!"｜Mabu Valley Exhibits Emergency Rations, Water Purification, and Satellite Communication Equipment

Event Recap

On September 19, 2026, we participated in the "2026 National Disaster Prevention Day" educational outreach event hosted by the Taipei City Government at the Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall Plaza. We showcased emergency food, water treatment solutions, and satellite communication equipment, allowing items typically found on preparedness lists to be seen, compared, and discussed in person.

Disaster Preparedness Exchange at Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall Plaza

This year's event theme, "Preparedness Together, Carry Safety with You!", brought together government agencies, civic organizations, and various sectors to host booths and interactive experiences. The city also organized a "Go-Bag Health Check" station, inviting citizens to inspect their bags for weight, item utility, and food expiration dates. Our display focused on three core needs: what to eat during an emergency, how to secure potable water, and alternative communication methods when cellular signals are unstable.

Exploring Food, Water, and Communication Preparations

We placed various types of equipment on a single table. Visitors could directly examine the packaging, size, and operation methods, making it easier to compare these items with their own household emergency preparations.

Emergency Food: NRG-5

The NRG-5 and NRG-5 ZERO displayed at the booth showed visitors the actual packaging of emergency rations. When preparing food reserves, in addition to checking expiration dates, consider where they will be stored, who in your household will use them, and how you will routinely inspect and replace them.

Water Treatment: Portable and Stationary Solutions

We showcased the KATADYN BeFree AC personal water filter, the Rapidyn gravity water filtration system, Steripen UV purifiers, and Aquatabs water purification tablets. Since these items offer different portability and treatment methods, seeing them side-by-side helps in determining the specific needs for home backup, outdoor activities, and temporary refuge sites.

Outdoor Communication: Garmin inReach

We also displayed the Garmin inReach satellite communicator. For hikers or those traveling to remote areas, ensuring you have an alternative communication method when cellular service is unavailable is a vital part of pre-trip preparation.

Integrating Equipment into Your Personal List

Disaster preparedness isn't about stuffing every item seen on a display table into a single go-bag. Food reserves, water backups, and outdoor communication address different scenarios and should be customized based on family members, living environment, and your typical activities. This event brought together equipment for diverse uses, providing us with a valuable opportunity to engage with the public.
