Product Description

The village of Ban Bo Ong is located on the Khao Laem Reservoir, about 110 kilometers northwest of Bangkok and close to the Myanmar border. The village is a settlement of about 400 families scattered on the western bank of the reservoir. This reservoir, built in the 1980s, isolates the village from the outside world. There are no roads, no electricity and no communications. Villagers get their water from lakes or by collecting rainwater in barrels. Both water sources are heavily polluted. Now, 60 of the poorest families have received KATADYN group gravity water filter bucket Drip .

The second project is related to Wang Hin village, which is located about 90 kilometers northeast of Udon Thani, towards the border. There are about 300 households in Wang Hin village. Many children suffer from problems such as diarrhea. In the first phase of the Wang Hin project, 60 of the poorest families received water filters.

product

due to use KATADYN group gravity water filter bucket Drip is very simple, they are highly welcomed and put into use immediately after simple instructions. These gravity filter barrels work by placing two water storage barrels together in a stacked manner so that the upper container seals the lower container. Three ceramic filter elements are installed at the bottom of the upper container. The upper container is filled with sewage. Due to the effect of gravity, the sewage drips into the lower container through the filter element. During this process, the sewage is filtered clean. The lower container is equipped with a faucet, allowing the household to drink and use clean water at all times. These containers have a capacity of 10 liters and can be filled 2 to 3 times a day to provide an ample supply of clean water for the entire household. In addition to providing clean drinking water, it is equally important to provide clean water for personal hygiene and cooking.

summary

About two months after starting to use the water filters, the Rotary Club participating in the project observed that the water filters were very popular among households and were indeed being used extensively. Diarrhea has almost disappeared and residents' health has improved significantly. Based on these experiences, the Rotary Club of Thailand plans to equip up to 60 villages with KATADYN Drip .
