Project description

Venezuela's political and economic disaster has caused millions of Venezuelans to flee the country in what has been called Latin America's worst refugee crisis ever. Many refugees crossing the Venezuelan-Colombian border chronically lack food, clean water and medical care. In response to this humanitarian emergency, Operation Blessing established refugee camps in remote areas of Colombia to cope with dangerous border crossings. In rescue situations, safe drinking water is a priority, so Operation Blessing deployed two different Katadyn solutions to ensure refugees’ drinking water needs were met.

product

One solution is to use the KATADYN BeFree Gravity Water Filter 3.0L . These water filters are distributed to refugees who can use this simple but effective water filter themselves to purify water from questionable sources.

The second solution is the SPECTRA land-based portable water generator Aquifer 360 . Operation Blessing uses Aquifer when large amounts of water are needed and they are in remote, non-powerful areas. This rugged water-making device can provide up to 360 gallons of fresh water per day from any water source, including seawater. It runs entirely on three included solar panels and comes packed in three military-grade cases that can be checked as luggage on commercial flights. Aquifer units provide more fresh water per day than a full plate of bottled water, without the negative environmental impact and difficult transportation logistics issues.

KATADYN BeFree gravity water filter 3.0L and SPECTRA land-based portable water generator Aquifer 360 are just part of the Katadyn Group's range of products. The Katadyn Group’s product portfolio includes safe water solutions designed for individual use, as well as products that can support entire communities, producing 20,000 gallons of clean water per day entirely from solar panels.
